We are always in a state of growth and change. Like the leaves turning colors and falling to the ground, we transition into a cold and bare form of existence. In a sense, we cleanse. We rid ourselves of what weighs us down. We reflect, we purge and perhaps even begin to move into a feeling of sadness as we shed our vibrant green leaves. If you are prone to environmental mood disorder it is easy to slip into this sadness and stay there until the daffodils poke up from the ground. However, this is a beautiful time of facing our shadows! When we begin to transition into the colder season, we as humans often reflect what is happening environmentally. When the snow comes and freezes over the landscape and the sun goes down earlier than we would like...our bodies, our hearts and our souls become a holding vessel for what is dark and cold. We now have more time to spend with ourselves when we are tucked inside our homes. We begin to truly feel what is dark about us.
